One-of-a-kind – A coachbuilt masterpiece

🔹 An Automotive Masterpiece by Marcel Pourtout

This pre-war coupé is the only known example of a Lancia Ardennes bodied by Marcel Pourtout. While the coachbuilder created 32 cabriolets on the same base, only one coupé was ever built.
This exact vehicle — a unique, fully documented specimen — was exhibited at the 2017 “Art et Élégance” event at the Château de Chantilly, where Pourtout’s work was celebrated.

🏛️ History & Model Background

The Lancia Aprilia, successor to the Augusta, was introduced in 1937 as a revolutionary car for its time.
It featured an aerodynamic body, rear-hinged doors without a B-pillar, and a lightweight aluminum engine. Vincenzo Lancia insisted on four-wheel independent suspension, giving it an unprecedented road feel.

Due to high import duties, a French version — named “Ardennes” — was built locally in France. Despite its technical merits, it was overshadowed in the French market by the Citroën Traction, yet gained legendary status among enthusiasts over time.

📚 History of This Example

Discovered as a bare chassis in the 1990s, this Lancia was rebuilt using a period-correct Marcel Pourtout body, uniquely configured as a coupé.
It underwent a complete and meticulous restoration, and is today in flawless mechanical and cosmetic condition.
